Ministry of Civil Aviation Apologises to SalamAir Over Airport Incident in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of the Federal Government of Somalia has formally apologised to the management and staff of SalamAir following an incident involving physical assault and inappropriate conduct against one of the airline’s employees.

The Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, H.E. Mohamed Farah Nuuh, strongly condemned any actions that undermine the dignity, respect and safety of airline employees and airport personnel, stressing that such behaviour does not reflect Somalia’s standards of governance and public conduct.

The Ministry confirmed that firm and appropriate legal measures will be taken against anyone found to have been involved in the incident.

It also announced plans to strengthen security and protection measures for both international and local airline personnel operating in Somalia, while reaffirming the importance of respecting agreements and maintaining constructive relations between the Ministry and airlines serving the Somali public.

The Ministry further assured SalamAir and all other airlines operating in Somalia that their safety and dignity will be fully safeguarded while carrying out their duties.
